If you are reading this blog post, then ten to one you are planning your wedding. And ten to one, you have come across a myriad of articles and blog posts centered around a big wedding trend right now called “Rustic Chic”.

Now, there appears to be many definitions of this here “Rustic Chic” look; I have seen Rustic Chic inspiration in  the form of old, mismatched books wrapped together with raffia, next to wooden crates filled with succulents and fruit.

Ah, the fruit. For some reason, people associate fruit and harvest with Rustic Chic. Remember ladies: apples and pears in a pretty urn will never a fabulous wedding centrepiece make alone. Add a bit of shimmer to the look and now you’re talking. Well that’s what I believe because I like to think of Rustic Chic as a relaxed and comfortable “worn” look with a bit of sparkle and elegance. It’s about marrying (no pun intended) the bits of country with the bits of splendour.

Think a well lit barnyard with a luxurious sparkly chandelier hanging from the top beams. Or magnificent bling candelabras sitting on hessian tableclothes, perfectly lit by the multitude of shiny votives decorating the table. There is no reason why you can’t combine rustic and shabby with bling and fabulous. It photographs splendidly, adds a personal and whimsy feel to your day and is something that you and your guests you won’t forget in a hurry.
